Todd General Store 3866 Railroad Grade Rd., Todd phone: 336-877-1067 toddgeneralstore@gmail.com
Come visit the Historic Todd General Store and recapture a time when life was simple and genuine. Meet the mountain folks and listen to tales of the railroad days when Todd was the largest town in both Watauga and Ashe counties. We are located 10 miles south of West Jefferson or 11 miles north of Boone off of Highway 194, overlooking the South Fork of the New River and located on Railroad Grade Road, one of the most scenic bike routes in North Carolina, along with the Virginia Creeper Bike Trail which runs though Todd.
We offer family oriented activities, antiques, arts and crafts, and a café featuring old fashioned, homemade breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And if you have a sweet tooth you will love our ice cream! On Tuesday nights we have storytelling from 6pm-7pm with dinner at 5pm (our regular menu). On Friday nights we have bluegrass music from 7pm-9ish with a special menu dinner at 6pm featuring anything from chicken demiglaze to pork tenderloin. For both events there is no admission fee, however, donations are requested.
In the summer we have “in house” publishers on Saturdays from High Country Publishers to share their stories with us and “Artisans on the Back Deck” (metals, watercolor, pottery, etc) who also offer classes in the park. There is a lot to do in Todd so come see us and “hear the hot music in the cool Carolina mountains”.
